We have been trying to get help to complete the building of a 2 (3) family home with a general contractor who turned out to be very unprofessional. The workmanship performed is very sloppy and work ethics is a disgrace to even be considered a licensed contractor.
We have called and sent numerous letters via certified mail, return receipt and faxes trying to remedy the outstanding issues and discrepancies on this project. One of many discrepancies was roof not properly flashed, causing water to penetrate the building and creating a home where mold and mildew has developed. Concrete slab is pour to pitch away from the floor drain and into the building.
They are basically building us a defected house. I have pictures to prove this. No one has return our calls or responded to our concerns. The only response we did received was abandonment from this project. It has already been 5 months pass the date of completion. They have prevented Con Edison from bringing gas and the water & sewage company service to the building. Architect is not being very corporative because the contractor has hired him for this project. The contractor has basically threatened that this project will never be completed and he will drag this on as long as possible to financially hurt us.
We had to hire an attorney to legally terminated him because they have breached the contract and we were left with no other options (we gave them more then sufficient enough time to complete or comply with this project), yet no response. Even after termination, he trespassed onto the property using force. Police did not arrive until too late; they were no help (I do have a police report). We have sent complaints and ask for help from NY1, BBB, and DCA, but did not get any response.
Everything seems to be working against us as the home owner. We have found that this contractor is in debt and default with other home owners. His son is a criminal and we feel threaten. This contractor should have his license revoked and prevented from performing this type of scam on others. We will end up financially drained or may have to file for bankruptcy if this issue does not get resolved ASAP. All we want is to have this building completed with Certificate of Occupancy so we move in. We are financially, physically and emotionally exhausted from this dilemma. Please help us on this urgent matter. I promise you this is worth investigating and exposing this blackmail operation.
