I recently divored 08, and employed Credit Score monitoring. I received notice, 09, my score dropped 10%. I traced it to a Verizon Account FIOS that was, I thought. Transferred to my ex-wife. On 02/08, I had a 3-way call with Verizon staff and ex-wife and transferred ownership of account to her. Appears she did not pay a $115 bill before switching to another cable service in 04. This $115 bill went into collection; and she did pay it in full within days of when I notified her.
Verizon has stated they will not adjust/correct my credit report via phone since the account was in my name! Verizon admits to having electronic notes that state ex-wife assumed account on 02/08, but that does not matter! I feel like I am getting scr*wed here!
I sent letters to Verizon (Various Locations) asking they make a correction to my credit report and have not heard back yet; only 1 week.
Any advice? Should I sue in local court if they do not respond to my letters? Any chance I can win, considering Verizon has the electronic notes that state ownership was to be transferred on 02/08. I can not attain copies of the electronic notes since they are confidential and property of Verizon a rep told me...
I really need my FICO Score to increase not decrease as I start to rebuild my life post-divorce.
Thanks in Advance for any comments!!!
