Sprint/Nextel Unauthorized Auto Payment draft from my bank account.internet

I have been a loyal Sprint customer since 1997. I am currently a Sprint Premier Customer. I have alsmost always paid my bill through the check by phone method or credit card by phone method. Last month I called to pay my bill of $167.10 which went through as usual. However, a second payment was made of $167.03 (different amount) on the same day. I did not receive a confirmation email for the bill I initiated but I did receive an email from [Sprint Auto Pay] stating that my account had been paid using the same method as above.

I never took the time to review the email and I assumed it was an email receipt for the payment I initiated. But when I got my bank statement, there were two drafts for these amounts on the same day. This is a month ago. I received another email from [Sprint Auto Pay] indicating that I had made an automatic payment on August 17 in the amount of $159.59.

I have never set up or clicked any button online to request any sort of auto payment. A call to the sptint customer care varified that I do not have auto payment set up on my account. But the various personnel I have spoken with all claim that the IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system can only be activated from my personal cellular phone and that no one at sprint or otherwise has access to it.

They are claiming that I must have done this myself. I don't drink or take drugs or medication of any kind and I know I DID NOT make a second call to pay my bill a second time in the same day last month. Nor have I initiated a payment at all this month. So I cannot understand why they won't simply admit that there is a glich in their system and repay me the two payments I never intended to make on an automatic or other basis?

The people at customer care are extrememly circular with a spin to every question you can pose to them. It is frustrating to say the least and outright fraud at the other end of the spectrum.in any event I will go down to my bank first thing Monday morning and refute the two charges that were initiated by the ghost in the Sprint billing machine.
