I got married on September 6 in Uxbridge, MA and used Beautiful Beginnings Photography and Video (BBP) out of Leominster, MA as my photographer.
1. The first incident I had with Kathy the photographer was when I sent her my initial down payment check of about $600.00. She cashed the check and then disappeared for almost 3 weeks. I was calling every phone number I had for her along with emailing her with no response. Naturally I thought she took the money and ran so I became very concerned. I do not live near her (about 1 hour and away) but I do have a friend that is from the same town as her so he offered to stop by her house for me. As soon as he showed up at BBP's doorstep I finally got a phone call back and Kathy said she had been out of town.
2. The second incident was trying to schedule an appointment for our engagement photos. We set up the appointment where we were to drive to her location for the photos, but Kathy cancelled on us a few days before the appointment so we rescheduled. For the 2nd scheduled appointment my husband and I drove the 1-hour and to her place for the photos. When we got to her house there was no answer at the door or on her phone. We knocked and rang the doorbell for several minutes. We even went for a drive and came back a hour later with still no response at her house. When we got home my brother called Kathy for me (I was too upset to call) and got a hold of her. Kathy then did call me back to say she was on the third floor of her house and did not hear the doorbell. We scheduled a third engagement photo appointment this time I told Kathy she would have to come to me. With the wedding only about a month away Kathy finally did show up to take our engagement photos' but I never did receive them to put in the paper.
3. Over the course of the next few weeks she was nearly impossible to get a hold of. I would leave voice mails and emails with no response. She would continually promise things and never follow through.
4. Kathy did amazingly show up for our rehearsal and took some pictures, which I never did see.
5. Wedding day: Other than the traditionally family photo's after the ceremony I had requested 8 specific shots I wanted taken I only received 1 of them. I had one special request, which was VERY important, and she did not fulfill that request (my father has an eye patch due to a childhood illness and I requested she take all the shots of us walking down the aisle on his left side but all the shots she took were on his right side). When the album was completed she blew off our appointments to get me the album several times. When I finally received the album there were 2 photos I had asked to be blown up which were missing. Also the front of the album she had spelled my husbands name wrong.
On February 12th (5 months after the wedding) I finally did get the completed album there was one shot I had wanted in black in white which came in color but I was pass the point of dealing with this company so I let it go. Even with all these problems her wedding photography skills are mediocre at best. Kathy does a lot of school photos and it shows all of our poises look very similar to a 5th grade photo, very staged. She is terrible at candid shots, if she even takes any. The photos I received from friends and family are 100 times better than any of the shots I received from Beautiful Beginnings. As an example I would be more than happy to send you a copy of the picture she took of my wedding dress which is horrendous!!! She hung my wedding dress from a hanging candle I had in my living room so it looks like there are chains coming out of my dress. She did not have the bottom flail out like you typically see in dress shots so the dress is just hanging limply from these chains.
