When I got my first bill for Gulf Power in Pensacola I noticed the ten dollar charge and called them to inquire. I was told it was for reading meters, paper work, transportation, etc. What is the initial set-up fee for? And do not most companies take these operating costs out of their profits?
It is like having a store tack on a $10 fee when you buy something from them, to help pay the lite bill, payroll of clerk, rental of cash register, and cleaning service for the store. What a joke and... A RIP-OFF.
Write and call them to complain. Also contact your state representatives and the Florida public utilies commission and FILE A COMPLAIT of excessive rates with tack on charges... Are these authorized by the Commission?
Together and enmasse we can pressure them to drop these charges... Note: this would be an interesting Class Action Lawsuit..
