Freightcenter
Bait and switch scam continues

There's two parts to this - the first is yet another scam report on this astonishingly unethical company, the second is the serious credit card violations they (may) be committing. I say may as I would like Mr Brosious, or one of his staff, to please file a rebuttal. I note the management of this company go to great lengths to discuss their service records on their site, so I trust they will act with integrity, fix their abysmal commercial practices and respond to this report.

The Freightcenter scam works like this:

1 - A customer calls or emails Freightcenter and gets a quote for shipping goods.
2 - Freightcenter, backed with wonderful and sincere sales staff, come back with an incredible quote. Great - a fantastic deal with people who care etc etc etc.
3 - Then give them a credit card, take payment, ship goods, all's well.

Right?

4 - No - because then a week or two later the customer gets an email (no call, no wonderful sales people this time) with a 6 page dense list of gobbledygook which in the small print says the weight of the goods was more (strangely NEVER less) than stated by the customer, and there is now a re-weigh fee, a higher cost of shipping, and a revised cost to ship

5 - But so far so what? People get their weights wrong, Freightcenter isn't a charity, suck it up and move along. Well what happens is Freightcenter KEEPS THE ORIGINAL PAYMENTS and then charges a SECOND fee that is (at least for us) 2 to 3 times higher than the first!

6 - So what this means (and looking at our own charges) a quote for $110 turns into a charge for $386.

But isn't this just a one off? Maybe we did get our weights wrong?

7 - No - we manufacture products used in construction. We know EXACTLY what our products weigh. And Freightcenter has scammed us FIVE TIMES.

I'll stress that again - we have been over charged, in most cases by 2 to 3 times, on FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS.

Now if this aint an organised scam what is?

Mr Brosious - do give me your side of the story.

Ok, now the second part of the Freightcenter story. Their potential violation of credit card acquiring regulations.

Again, will someone from Freightcenter answer the following questions:

1 - You re-charge a credit card that you keep on file, though have not been given permission to do this. Can you confirm your current PCI-DSS status?

2 - The re-weigh triggers a second auth against a new alleged payment (it is not authed against the original BIN/ICA). Can you confirm that in every case you receive permission from a customer to collect against a new debt?

3 - It appears that you are acting as agents for third party carriers. Yet you also appear to collect payments from them. Can you confirm that you are not aggregating merchant payments?

I look forward to getting comments from Freightcenter on all the points above. I don't need to let them know that if the card violations are proven then they are facing TMF, and I do hope they will confirm this is not the case.

Step up Mr Brosious and lets hear your views.
