I built Family Dollar Store. I was never trained as Management. I read all materials I could myself and followed the policy I read to the "T." I never received a description of Management nor Policies for my position in four and one-half years.

I have a new District Manager to my District and she didn't want the Management that was already there. She wanted her own people in. (Company politics). My sister store also received the new DM.

I ran that store by myself (totally), for six weeks before I saw or heard from anyone. Then I didn't see her again for six months. The only time I heard from her was when she called to yell at me. Making up reports and figures that the company does not get.

I was degraded in a Manager's Meeting in front of Manager there. I never was given any other stores she had to be able to contact them if I needed help. I received only two e-mails from her in six months. When I asked her what way she liked to have her stores, she hung-up on me.

She accussed me of payroll fraud. I was there almost five years and became Trainer of New York. There was one complaint in all that time and it was unfounded. The Labor Dept. Called me at home and confirmed every person I spoke with and every receipt number I had for what transpired at that time. My DM had the gaul to call my employees, tell them I was guilty, change the locks, don't speak to me and she was calling worker's comp. To try to get them to drop me. Yes, I was injured, ripped the main muscle from the base of my skull to the pelvic area.

Then the DM called me at home to yell at me (first time she called since I was injured). Told me not to enter the store, the locks were being changed, not to speak to anyone, I was guilty of payroll fraud of three hours, and she was calling workers comp because I answered a question.

Worker's Comp. Laughed because I am partically disabled and can answer a DM's question when asked. The Dept. Of Labor stated that the DM never called back at that time to find out the results when she accused me. All my employees quit due to her harassment.

I pulled that store from 450,000 at the beginning to a million and a half. Every rule was followed to the "T." There were never any big shortages. Two people did everything. My inventories for four years were excellent. I went out and my assistant came in and was short 100.00. She called the DM. The DM said no problem, its Christmas, put it through???

I tried calling the DM one day and her phone was disconnected. I contacted my sister store who tried calling and said the same thing. But, my sister store said her husband was there building shelving for the back room and the DM just sent him in. There was no bids permitted, no acceptance, just a payout which I have to her husband to her household. It's not the first time and not something new.

I do not play dirty. I am up-and-up. I will not stoop to playing with company's monies nor go against their policies. I ran that store on $700.00 per week. I put in over seventy-five hours minimum per week.

My sister store complained and the DM called her the next day to tell her that the DM had the complaint. It was given to her. The following day, the DM walked in and fired her. I filed a complaint and never heard anything at all from the company. Then I sent a certified return receipt with pictures, copies of notorized statements, back-up to everything I just said plus alot more. I was harassed all the time. You don't know what I went through to run your store. But I was hired to be professional, try to ignore it and do my job to the best of my ability for you. That is what I really tried to do. I never received a receipt back from the company signed to this day.

I called another DM and spoke to him. He called the Regional VP to discuss this and the regional vp stated to mind his own business.

This DM told me she forgot to let me know about meetings. She forgot to let me know about codes to update new systems. I had to contact other districts to keep my store running.

There were never real shortages, problems, etc. The community loved the store. I loved the community. Now everyone in this small community is devistated how the store is run and no stock in it. You are losing major sales.

I'm not permitted to shop in it according to my DM. Why? In this community, Family Dollar is the ONLY retail store in a twenty-mile radius. It is in the mountains with long-hard winters. I must travel forty miles almost daily to get even a notebook. I have three children and I can't tell their teachers that my children cannot do assignments because they must wait for their mom to travel twenty miles once a week. It is wear and tear on my vehicle and the gas is expensive. There have been many times I have prayed and been in pain driving because I cannot shop where I live.

Tell me this is justified of a company that is growing. I have been offered DM before by this company. I can't be that bad of a person. I have been in their magazine. I have awards all over the place. A DM should not judge a Manager whether or not personally they like the person; but by the job performance they do.
