I was a Store Manager for 4 yrs and lived there for 4yrs too! I started in a brand new store, then went to a dump? The day I took over my permanent store the old manager left me with 435 pieces of freight on the sales floor.
WOW what a way to start my new career with the family dollar zoo. This store was a low volume store at the beginning, but I turned it to a million dollar store. With very low payroll-900.00 a week included my pay with that? 550.00? Not a lot for a asst, and help either.
The DM was never around, did not help for any one but bitch about sales and payroll. They couldn't even run a reg? My store was one of the clean ones; the buffalo stores are the worst stores I have ever been in.
I wouldn't let a dog live in them they are so filthy? I did a lot of store set ups, remodels, ect and a lot of the buffalo store clean ups. They would send all the store managers to the store for a couple of days to fix it. And that would of course take you way over payroll!
The dm for the buffalo stores was the worst district for the chain at the time. They say he was doing a good job? Haha he was never around only when the regional manager showed up, and would take him to the stores we cleaned up for him? They never gave a compliment when I did a good job and allways kept the payroll down. Only bitch if I didn't have a blue strip on a shelf, you people no what I am talking about if you worked for them.
Not only when you are a manager-slave for them you also have to clean up the parking lot, toilet, store mopping, ect and never had a big enough dumpster for all the dam* cardboard, jumping in the dumpster to pack down the cardboard cause they are to cheap to dump it more than once a week. Nice manager duties, when I managed at ames we never did this sh*? Yes at ames!
Remember that chain, I have a lot of stories about this company in just the four years I was there. Yes this is a very fast pace store to work in but when there is no money to pay your help and you have to work alone a lot, just to make the dollar store money for the big shots?
That's all that counts and get the dms their bonus money. I finished the company after the inventory was done, a month after, and never got my bonus or my last two weeks vacation. But now am happy to be away from the bullsh* for three years now? Life is great now???
This company is a very poor excuse for a retail store. The home office don't even know what sh* the dm's are doing to everybody that worked there and still works for them. Very lame people they are MR. Levine would be pissed. Ooh I forget he has to take care of the carolina panthers first! That is where the payroll went. Hahahaha.
