My credit card was charged for another year of HighBeam Research access that I don't want and am not being allowed a refund because I agreed to the "terms and conditions" when I subscribed a year ago.
I feel it is unreasonable to expect a person to remember a year after initially subscribing that this practice exists and to not give prior notice that the renewal would be occurring... But then, of course, that must be how they make most of their money&otherwise, why would they feel it necessary to engage in such an unscrupulous practice.
I will be reporting them to my state's consumer protection agency and to the Better Business Bureau but am doubtful it will do me any good. Unfortunately I don't think my state has a law against automatic renewal. I am sick— it feels like it is $299.95 "down the drain". I've seen class action suit mentioned in other posts. I am interested in participating.
