AT&T - Avoiding Communication, no customer service, zero ethics

AT&T does not try to provide quality customer service... Or any customer service, for that matter.

In 1999, when I got my computer, it came with AT&T Worldnet in it and it was just a matter of signing up.

I went through the steps to try to sign up and the computer locked up after about an hour. The signup process had not been completed, but my credit card number had been entered.

Because the computer locked up, I shutdown the computer and opted, at a later point to sign up with a different internet provider.

After a few months, however, I came to the realization that AT&T had billed me ever since my attempt to sign up with them, although I never was able to logon via AT&T Worldnet.

I contacted them and, after about an hour of getting re-directed from one department to another, I was advised that it was too late and they had no way of knowing if I received the service.

I have attempted, a few times since, to contact AT&T Worldnet and have found no customer service to which I could send messages and no phone number that I could call.

This follows the horrendous phone service that I had from them, a few years ago, where they would not unfreeze my service and allow me to transfer to another phone service, inasmuch as I was led to believe, in 5 teleconferences with AT&T and the other phone service provider, that everything was set and I had successfully transferred my service.

It was only after I contact the state department of Public Utilities that I was able to have AT&T submit an apology and a letter creditting my account for those calls that were made when I thought I had transferred my service to another provider.

Suffice it to say, AT&T is the PITS and has absolutely no concern for anything but profit... And certainly none for the quality of their customer service.

I will go a step further to say that they exercise zero ethics, as reflected in the fact that they feel free to charge me, when there was no service, whatsoever, provided.
