Over the past 3-4 months my Scana Energy bills have been astronomically high. Despite the fact that I have paid 2 separate plumbers to check for gas leaks in addition to Atlanta Gas also checking for leaks, my bills continue to be several hundred dollars per month. I have never had bills this high in the 10 years I've lived in my house, even in the coldest winter months.
I have made 6 calls to Scana over the past 6 weeks regarding this. I've asked for the meter to be examined for malfunction several times but have been told that they will only come out to read the meter again. All manner of excuses are offered to explain why the bills have been so ridiculously high. None make any sense and the bills just keep rolling in.
Even though I've made several payments over the past 3 months (none less than $100) my bill remains nealry $600 as of today and my latest bill includes a notice informing me that my gas will be turned off in 3 days! I was told today that I could have a few more days to come up with a payment of almost $300 but that nothing more could be done for me beyond that.
The "Customer Service" rep I spoke to today, if you can call it that, merely reiterated the same scripted responses I've received each time I've called about this issue. I am contacting several other consumer agencies in addition to the Better Business Bureau. There is no point in continuing to "work" with Scana. It's like talking to a wall.
