Wal-mart falling object - no responsibility to their customers

As I Walked into the Searcy, AR. Walmart store almost a year ago, I stopped to sign my name and phone number for a drawing they used to have, to encourage customers to bring in shopping carts. As I was writing my name a sign that had been attached to an ice machine fell and hit my wrist really hard. It stunned me, to say the least.

A store greeter, standing beside me, asked if I was okay. I told him I thought so. But as I walked away, I was hurting.By the time I got to the coke aisle, I could hardly lift a 12-pack of cokes, the pain in my wrist was so severe. I went back to tell the greeter that I was hurt, and someone else had taken his place and was engaged in what appeared to be a conversation with a customer that might take a while. So, I went ahead and checked out. The greeter who had replaced the first one was no where in sight, as I left the store.

While driving home, my hand became numb. I could not feel the steering wheel. I called Walmart, and they acted like "So What!". There was no concern for my situation at all. I went to a doctor after about two weeks. He confirmed that I had a Contusion of the wrist which was caused from the sign hitting it, when it fell.

We do not have medical insurance. All that I wanted from Walmart was for them to pay for me to get medical help. Swelling and discoloration and bouts of severe pain had developed, as well as periods of numbness coming and going.

I called the Walmart headquarters and they refused to take any responsibility. They blamed the accident on the Ice Company who owned the ice machine that the sign had been attached to. Travelers Insurance, out of Dallas, TX., made an investigation into the matter.interviewed the greeter who witnessed the accident, and they determined that the accident was not due to the ice machine companies fault, but was due to negligence on the part of Walmart in Searcy. Still, Walmart refused to help me in any way.

Because we have no medical insurance, I found a free clinic run by ST. Vincents Hospital in N Little Rock, AR., that had doctors who treated my wrist. I have had shots into the swollen contusion to relieve the pain, and have been on vioxx and now, celebrex.

Because this is a free clinic, they don't get involved in legal disputes and will not release my records to an attorney. I am in daily pain, after a year, and seem to have no recourse but to endure it and get whatever help I can that is free.

Walmart is a huge company, which takes no responsibility for their customers being hurt on their property. This was totally their fault and none of mine. I only asked for medical help.

Now, I wish I could sue the Hell out of them. But that is not possible. I used to go there several times a week. If I have to go there now, I cringe and get sick to my stomach walking into their store. I am afraid something else will fall on me, or worse. People should be aware of how callous and unfeeling they are. And don't expect any help, if anything happens to you, while in their store or on their property.
