Brief: I ordered what I beleived to be a fantastic deal on People Magazines. I had a similar offer in hand for Money Magazine for a year for $10.00. When I saw a similar deal for People Magazine, $20.00 a term (a year, yes?) for three terms (3 years/36 months) OR $60.00; I ordered the special limited time offer from the subscription service company "Money", on September 2.in late December I began getting renewal offers for my subscription, as my subscription wod expire March 1st!
Realizing People Magazine had either made a mistake or the subscription service company ripped them off or worse, me, I delayed contacting them until January 7.
Here is that inquiry:
They told me that a "Term" for People Magazine is 9 issues, and I had paid for 27 issues, and that subscription would end on March 1st. Except for scam artists, I had never heard of a 9 issue term for any magazine except those door-to-door scam artists.
I checked again the offer sheet provided by Money Preferred Subscription Services, and checking the fine print (once I knew what to look for). I found a line which reads:
PEOPLE (53 Issues per year/9). Elsewhere on the sheet (which lists about 35 "offers")
is the line: MAGAZINE (FREQUENCY/ISSUES PER TERM)
I don't know what can be doen about this misleading advertising, as I already had tossed the envelope it came in (US Postal Service), so I have no proof of it arriving in the US Mail or when!
However, I did order it using a Visa card, so I may have a recourse through Visa for this misleading advertising.
