We have lived in the Bluffs for more than a year and never had a problem until now. My husband is deploying in the middle of the month and we are legally obligated to pay rent until he leaves, no big deal. We were told that we pay for the entire month and later we will receive the deposit and the pro-rated amount.
Now with only a few days until my husband leaves, we find out that we will not be getting a pro-rated amount and we will be lucky if we get our deposit back. How awful is that to hear at the last minute. The Bluffs complies with part of the SCRA. They let us out of the contract without penalty but at a cost of rent and deposit. We went to JAG and there is nothing that can be done because unfortunately, they found a loop hole in SCRA and can legally screw our fine men and women who serve this country.
I cannot see how this company can sleep at night knowing that they collect money using such unmoral tactics. I really wish that some legal action can be taken so that they do not continue such behavior.
