I was very lucky to read the comments that so many of you had to write before I had to deal with these people. They are in Albuquerque, NM and go by the name StarCorp Marketing. I have a very similar story, but there are a few new twists that I am sure you will find entertaining.
First off, I found the ad on Monster.com, and sent an email to them with my resume. Within 2 hours, they responded asking me to call them to set up an interview. That was kind of strange because it usually takes a company several weeks to read all of their resumes before contacting people. I went in for the interview, and all I got was a lot of hot air, as well as the web address to cydcor.com, which I went home to look at. That night I got the usual phone call telling me that I got the second interview, and to wear comfortable shoes because I would do a lot of walking. I went back to the internet and found this website warning people about them.
I decided to take the advise with a grain of salt, and decided to go to the second interview armed with a lot of questions about benefits such as tuition assistance, health benefits, paid vacation and so on. I was also prepared to ask for contact information to a Human Resources person because I was warned by people here about their deception. I thought that if they were acting the same way, I could warn others that were there based on their actions and answers to those questions.
I went in for the interview, and this is where the story takes a twist. I was told to be there between 9:15 and 9:30. I showed up at the office (which was actually kind of nice) and nobody was there. It looked abandoned. The door was locked, and the phone was ringing. I waited around thinking I may have been mistaken, and thought I was there late. Then another person showed up, and he told me that he was also told to be there at 9:30. We waited around for about 20 minutes, and then the janitor for the building came around. He said that they had been there earlier but must have left. He said that they come and go all day.
I told him that we were supposed to meet them at 9:30, and he told me that earlier in the week two other guys were waiting outside at 9:30, and the exact same thing happened to them. I think that they picked up that I might have been too smart for them and was able to see right through them, and decided to purposely waste my day by not showing up. I guess in my case I wouldn't have taken the job even if I hadn't read this website, because I would not work for someone that can't keep appointments.
The next couple of days I sent them emails. I made myself sound like I was really excited to work there, and asked what happened that they missed the appointment. I made it seem like I wanted a chance. I was hoping to get a response that I could post here, but after 2 emails, I still have not gotten a response. If I do, I will post it here. I bet they are sitting there jerking off with themselves because they got a thrill out of wasting my day. I just hope that others will read these posts, and stay away from these people.
