I am unemployed and through an unemployment service, this grant "opportunity" came up. I had no idea that there was a trial period and then they would be charging me $79.17 per month. When I called the number on my bank statement, they asked me which number I dialed which I thought was very strange. Then when I explained that I had no idea that there was a trial period and then I would be charged this amount, they said we can only cancel the "subscription." I asked for a supervisor and the individual who I was speaking with said they had all gone home for the day. I told him I didn't buy it for a second. He said Oh well, and hung up. I called back and spoke to a person named Eric.
He asked me what number I had dialed again and I just said very nicely, can I speak to a supervisor? He put me on hold to locate one. He then came back on the phone and said he was certain that there was a supervisor on the floor but he couldn't find him and could he answer a question for me? I told him that I was unemployed and had no idea that their service was a membership and asked that I be refunded. He said that nobody in the call center could put in a refund. I thought that was very odd so I asked him what kind of call center I was dealing with? He said it was strictly a cancellation call center. One of two things went through my mind at this point. The first was, he was full of it. The second was that they had to be very well aware that they were ripping people off because they put a "cancellation" call center phone number on my bank statement. I'm thinking the first. It would be great to get my money back. For the folks that are doing this to people? May their Karma fall right on their heads 10 fold.
