About a month ago I was researching cell phone companies, so that my mom can switch over her landline number to a cell phone in an effort to save money.
I also, wanted her to have the ability to contact her loved ones in Cuba.
When I called Virgin Mobile, my first question was how much is it to call Cuba?
I also stressed to them my intentions on replacing my landline with a cellphone.
The representative over the phone told me it was 10 cents a minute.
I thought to myself: this is awesome my mom is going to save alot of money!
I ordered a cellphone, I put credit on it.
My mom tried to call her family today for Thanksgiving and the cellphone does not make the call, there is a message that says that the account is not authorized to make those calls.
I called Virgin Mobile customer service, thinking that perhaps I had to add more credit to make the calls happen. The lady I spoke with then told me that you cant call cuba from Virgin Mobile. I told her that I was confused, becase I was told that you can and that it was 10 cents a minute. I asked her if I could return the phone, she suggested I sold the phone to a friend. I asked her for her supervisors email she said that she didn't have that information and then I asked for her supervisors number and she said she didn't have that information either.
I feel really confused and I feel like I had been ripped off by virgin Mobile,
I wrote them an email describing what had happened lets see if they can at least render a 20.00 credit as a courtesy of what had happened.
In any case, I guess the saying is true "It sounds to good to be true".
