I wanted to buy a pure breed Yorkie Terrier. I went online to research breeders and locations. After a few months of sketchy findings a friend introduced me to a website. Www.welvpets.com. The Breeder named Jessica was Brazilian and so was my friend, she seemed very informative and trust-able. My friend was also purchasing a chihuahua from Jessica, who says she only breeds those two breeds of dogs at her kennel. Jessica gave us all the information we needed. When it came to payment she said she only excepts cash from people who live out of state. We agreed feeling comfortable and made the deposit the next day.
We also decided to pick up our puppies in Florida (we were flying from Mass.). Jessica called us giving updates and sold us on some inflated priced Pet Store things that she told us we needed for our puppies (I think she made about $120 dollars from us just on those items). My puppy was priced at $1550.00 which included all of her pedigree paperwork, shots and microchip. The last deposit was made the day before the pick up. Jessica had called my friend looking for money days before we were to pick up the puppies but because of the New Years holiday the banks were closed. Jessica was pushy and upset (red flag). We picked up our puppies on Jan 2.
Jessica was suppose to meet us half way between us and her (Fort Lauderdale and Tampa). After 6 hrs of driving we realized Jessica only drove 20 mins from her kennel to meet us. This was after a few arguments, her saying she was half way (red flag, she already had almost $5000.00 in cash from us.) The puppies were in the same carrier when presented to us in a Hotel parking lot off an exit from the highway. We were very happy with them, they were playful and cute. Jessica was quick to leave with very little info on what and how to feed our new puppies (because of there size they need special care) which she told us that she would explain to us when we met that day. When I opened my paperwork there was no pedigree or micro-chip. Jessica then told me that it was up to me to fill out that paperwork and send in and pay for it myself. My warranty paperwork Jessica said would be mailed to me in 90 days.
My friends dog was already coughing, Jessica said that was normal (I found out later that my friends chuiaua was treated for kennel cough only a week earlier and our dogs had been together for the last few weeks).
On the second day we brought our dogs to a vet in Florida and he had already diagnosed my friends dog with Kennel Cough and said probably my puppy had it too even if she didn't have symptoms because it take up to 14 days to come down with the cough. On the third day the Chiuaua was rubbing her butt along the ground. My puppy was already coughing.
When I got home on Jan 6th only 4 days after picking up our puppies I took my new puppy to my vet. She was diagnosed with 4 types of worms (ringworm, hookworm, giardia and coccidia) and kennel cough. When I spoke with Jessica she began yelling at me and said she had given me a healthy dog and it was my fault. After only 4 days with the puppy and with the vet bills already pilling up, I wasn't quite sure how it was my fault.
It took 2 rounds of de-wormer's, 4 months of multiple different antibiotics and almost $2000.00 more to clear my puppies sicknesses. I haven't received any warranty paperwork and it's been 9 months, which I paid an extra $500 for. I've tried multiple times to contact Jessica at WE LOVE PETS, with no answer. I've mailed my vet bills to their address a few times with no response. I've contacted the vet in Florida whom gave the puppies there health certificate in the first place and they said they no longer see Jessica from WE LOVE PETS because they tried to get health paperwork with no shots administered by them and she clearly had no idea what kennel cough even was.
Please do not buy a dog from them. Although I love my puppy they are shady and do not care about their animals.
