Before I signed up for DISH Network, I was assured by the customer service rep I would not be held to a contract if they could not catch a signal at house I was moving to in another city. When I had the install tech out at the new house, he couldn't catch a satellite signal because of the trees. I was told I could not receive DISH there, and was assured, once again by both he and his supervisor that I would not be held to a contract.
One month later, I noticed a charge for $209.00 on my credit card from DISH Network. When I called to ask them about it, they said it was a charge for breaking the contract. I explained that three people in their organization had told me I would not be held to a contract for service they couldn't provide, but they refused to credit the fee back to my credit card. They agreed that it wasn't my fault, but a contract was a contract and they couldn't do anything to help me, even though it was their fault that service could not be provided. I explained that I was told before I signed up that their rep told me the contract would be void if they could not provide service, and that the other two people in their organization agreed. They still refused to take responsibility and told me that it was my fault that I moved. I believe their business tactics are fraudulent and completely unethical.
