In the summer of 2008 I ordered a new Whitman "Classic" Large Cent coin album (#9110) from an on-line coin supply house. I was very pleased with it until I tried to put my coins in it a few weeks later. Although it was nicely constructed, I discovered that on three of the four pages the openings were too small (!) making it virtually impossible to fit the coins into the holes provided for them.
I contacted the Whitman Call Center (800-546-2995) on Sept 3 to inquire about it. I was told by "Michelle" that they were aware of the problem and replacement pages were being manufactured. She took my name and address and promised to send me replacement pages as soon as they were available (probably not until December).
December came and went and no replacement pages were received.
On Jan 5 I again contacted the Whitman Call Center. This time I spoke to "Tabitha" who told me that Michelle was on maternity leave, but that she would speak to the supervisor to make sure that the replacement pages were mailed out. She also took my cell phone number in case they needed to contact me.
No replacement pages were received and I was never contacted.
On May 21 I sent an email to "[email protected]" and "[email protected]" informing them of the problem. (I know that the got the email, because I soon started receiving Whitman "special offer" promotional spam from [email protected].)
However, my email was totally ignored.
It has become obvious to me that Whitman does NOT stand behind its products. If you buy something from them that ends up being defective, you are pretty much on your own. Caution is advised when dealing with this company.
