Fred Whitman RIP Off Mechanic dont hire this crook!
Fred Whitman is a thief. I own a 39 foot monohull Beneteau in the Marina Del Rey. The Ships Store located on Panay Way recommended Fred Whitman to help me fix my engine problems.
Fred missed the first two appointments, when he finally showed up his work made the engine problems worse. Fred works with no plan and he is very disorganized. When I questioned him about his lack of performance plus the money he was charging, poor excuses were his only answers. Fred blamed his lack of attention to my engine on his girl friend who he claimed was causing him problems. This angered me because I paid Mr. Whitman over $2500 and had received wasted time and no results.
I found several of my tools missing and when I questioned Fred, he denied having knowledge of the missing items. I found two empty vodka bottles in paper sacks in the aft stateroom.
I began to ask residents of Marina Del Rey about Fred Whitman. I learned he was kicked out of the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club for stealing money from their bar till.in fact Whitman was recorded on camera committing the illegal act.
In addition employees of the Ships Store in Marina Del Rey will openly state Fred Whitman is no longer welcome in their establishment.
Mr. Whitman is a serious alcoholic who can no longer function without stealing from his customers and friends. Whitman is a sick individual. Do not hire this untrained mechanic to work on your boat.
