On my May 22 AT&T monthly phone bill, there appeared a charge of $14.95 plus. 90 tax from "Travel Pal Assistant, Inc" also called "OAN Services, Inc."
This was the first time I had ever seen this charge and I had no recollection of ever having signed up for such a service.
I called AT&T customer Service at 800-441-9678 and spoke to a representative named "Alice", located in Manila in the Philippines. She said that her records showed that that the service had been requested in my name on September 29.
I had no records indicating that I had ever requested or received approval for such a service. She gave me a telephone number which would allegedly connect me directly to the OAM office: 1-866-685-2306, which, by the way, is the same number listed under the "Contact Us" section of Travel Pal Assistant's home web page. Every time I dial it, a recording came on which says "This number cannot be accessed from your area".
I have no idea how this all got started and now I don't know how to stop it. Since it is listed as a "monthly charge", it appears that I will be charged a total of $15.85 on future phone bills as well.
Is this a scam? If so, can you help?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Lee
