We received our February phone bill with some charges unknown to us. They were listed as billing for OAN Services, Inc. The charges were supposedly for YBS VM Monthly Fee.
I called the 800 # listed for OAN billing. I was told the charge was for an 800 # with voice mail. I said we didn't have such a thing. Elaine (person I was speaking with) said it would have been signed up over the internet. I said "No it wasn't, it never has been. I'm not paying the charges." She cancelled it but said we'd have another billing on our next phone bill!!!
In looking back over past phone bills, OAN started billing us in Nov. 2008 with a charge of $8.44, Dec. 2008 $8.24, and Jan. 2009 $8.24. We hadn't checked out bills closely enough.
I called Verizon to explain and they were very accomodating, explaining the procedure to clear the charges from my bill, and some ways that OAN operates to get the charges on one's bill. She also suggested we put a block for 3rd party billing to our phone number, which I authorized immediately. The Verizon customer service person suggested I call Youbillingsolutions again to verify the cancellation and to demand full refund, which I did.
All in all, a time consuming process for charges that never should have been!!!
