I was trying to get in touch with my family in Jacksonville, Florida and my cell phone wasn't working there. My four year old daughter was with me and I was trying to make sure that my family knew that we had made it there ok. So I used the pay phone like I had done in the past with my credit card because of course who walks around with tons of quarters in their pockets.in the past I had made a call with my credit card and it was maybe $3 - $5, depending on the length of the call. So I made my call and didn't think much of it.
About a week after returning home I was looking at my bank statement and I noticed 2 charges for $28. Each. When I called the number provided on my statement they told me it was a call that I had made from a public phone.
I called up the company again today and ask to speak to a supervisor and the guy told me that his supervisor was at lunch at 2pm. He gave me his first name and would not give me his last name. He also would not give me the name of the president of the company telling me that that was classified information. He told me that it was my fault for not inquiring about the rates for the phone call. Now I ask you shouldn't they inform people that the phone call is going to be that much. And it is apparent that they don't because they know that no one would use their services if they knew that up front.
I have read other comments about people that have been ripped off and stolen from by this company. The other young woman such as myself who is a single mom and was ripped off by this company... The older woman who's grandson was in an mental institution and was ripped off by this company. Now I ask... Is this what we call democracy... The freedom to rip off the citizens of the united states for profit. I read on their website that they claim to give a better commission than the competition. So, they rip people off to pay themselves more. The guy on the phone whom I spoke to said that he admits that the rates are high. So as an employee of this company how can you live with yourself knowing that the company that you work for is ripping people off? Ripping off inmates, people in mental insitutions, and people like me who are in a situation of distress and needed to urgently make a phone call.
LEGACY PHONE Company makes me sick to my stomach! I could have used the $56. That you stole from me to pay for my daughters preschool, or for food or gas, but instead I hope it made your pockets happy!
