My family and I were on our way home from Oklahoma about an hour into driving I had a blowout. I pulled off the exit and into a gas station. My cell phone had no service in the area so I had no choice but to use the payphone.
I picked up the receiver hit "0" and got the options "1" to call collect "2" for credit card. So I hit "2" enter in my credit card information. Called my brother in law for help. There was no answer and I recieved his voicemail, and left him a quick message. No longer than 30 sec.
I then called my nephew and again received no answer. I didn't leave a voicemail and just hung up.
When I got home I looked online at my banking account and discovered that Legacy Long distance has charged me $29.05 for one of the calls, and $11.24 for the other.
I called to dispute the charges, and I was told "Sorry mam these are our charges." Asked to speak w / a supervisor and was transferred to a voicemail.
It makes me sick that companies can get away w / this. Preying on people who have to use the payphone. I am going to make a complaint w / the FCC and CPUC. I hope this company can get shut down! People BEWARE!
