Ace Air Performed maintenance check on my a/c and disconnected wire caused problems

Earlier this month I contacted Ace Air to come out and perform a maintenance check on my air conditioner. There was nothing wrong with my unit prior to this call but I thought it would be a good idea to get a service check since I have not had one performed during the eight years that I have been living here. On May 5 tech 43 came out to do an inspection and I accompanied him on the roof while he performed his check. The technician, in my opinion, did not do much of an inspection as he only opened and inspected the electrical panel. This was validated by the second technician who also wondered why he only opened the electrical panel. Following the service check he gave a good check up, no problems and that everything was working ok.

The following day I began to experience issues with my a/c when started blowing hot air. I called Ace Air back on May 8th to notify them of my problems and they agreed to send someone back out. On May 11th a second tech 147 showed up and I accompanied him on the roof. This tech performed a more detailed inspection as he removed all panels from the unit and tested the various components. He also inspected the electrical panel which was later determined to be the source of my problem. From his report the tech stated that my compressor was going bad and recommended a new a/c unit. He provided me with several quotes and offered to look into discounted a/c units.

I felt that I needed to get another opinion rather than submit to the recommendation of purchasing a new unit by the Ace technician. On May 15 I called another vendor and he came out the next day to inspect my unit. Upon his inspection he noticed that a wire was disconnected from within the electrical panel. He said that it was the source of my problem and reconnected the wire. Immediately following my a/c started working like it was before this all started and I have not had any issues with it since.
