In July we moved to Riverdale, NY from The Netherlands via Atlas Movers who used Tober Logistics as their OEM supplier on this side of the Atlantic to move, unload and store the goods we couldn't fit into our new home. We left 1/4 a container's worth of artwork, sentimental books, diaries and mementos for our son, furniture and household goods at Tober thinking, we're in good hands. We'll need a year in storage and then we can remove our goods.
The last invoice we received was November 08 covering 2 months.in January 09 we didn't recieve any invoice. I waited and waited and finally last month gave a call. There was no answer on their 800 number nor their regular land line. No answer by fax. Janet who was my contact, is not there as her emails bounce back to me. I am crying my eyes out. Where are my goods? How can I sue the owners of Tober? They never ever notified us that maybe they were going into chapter 11. Are they Mafia run? Do we have any chance as citizens who pay a company to store our precious things?
We did an internet search and their place of business is up for rent. What can I do for compensation?
