On March 27, I am moving to Germany to start a new job with the UN. I have a contract with Tober for them to ship approximately 200 cu. Ft. Of household items, including books that I need for my job. I asked for $25,000 insurance.
Tober assured me I could expect delivery in 6 weeks and I rented an apartment starting April 1 in reliance on that promise. I paid Tober $600 by check which Tober cashed. Tober subcontracted the pickup to Planet Cargo. On February 22, Planet Cargo picked up the shipment.
Since that date, Patrick Christopher at Tober refuses to return phone calls or emails. Planet Cargo told me that because Tober has not paid Planet Cargo, my shipment has not yet left Chicago. Planet Cargo also told me they would not release my shipment because of their contract with Tober.
