I was contacted by Mayflower when my furniture arrived in Albuquerque. A very thoughful and concerned representative at Mayflower told me that in all the years she had never seen furniture transported in such a haphazard and unprofessional and warned me that there was damaged furniture so I should immediately obtain a claims form.
She took photos of my furniture upon its arrival in ABQ and has kindly sent them to me. My furniture was delivered today and it had to be transported on a flatbed truck, I have photos of this.
My 6,000 euro handmade Spanish dining room table, a massive piece of very very hard solid wood, arrived with all legs not only broken off but in splintered pieces like firewood. The movers said this could not have been caused simply through being unsecured, this had to have been dropped from a height. It was not wrapped in padding nor was it double wrapped as the movers in Germany had done. All the wrapping and padding was gone. It was on the flatbed, in pieces much like firewood, just laying there exposed to the elements. I have taken photos.
My beautiful handmade (again solid wood) bookcase arrived with two shelves missing (and only the nails left where they once were. They could only have forcefully been removed and apparently then discarded. The glass doors were all broken save one and it looks like stress damage, as if it had been squeezed tightly. It is in immediate need profession repairing and may well be irrepairable too. Again photos were taken.
Other items have varying degrees of damage but most distressing is my beautiful city bicycle is missing (valued at 3000 euro) as is my favorite hand carved chair (valued at 2000 euro) as well as four boxes of expensive household decorations and books.
When I emailed Tober Logistics to request a claims form they did not respond. I cc'd my emails to the top guy at the company, again no response. I have called repeatedly and each time was told that Janis Baines was out of the office or on the phone. I left voice messages and she has never returned my call. The Mayflower representative has tried to contact Tober Logistics on my behalf to no avail. She has also emailed them copies of the state of my furniture upon its arrival in ABQ. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect. Even when I used my 'Dr.' title I was hung up on repeatedly. Hung up on!
