We purchased a Trane heater and air conditioner system from Home Depot in Oroville, CA, in 08/10. We have had 5 major failures of the system and numerous repair people here trying to fix it. All failures were due to poor workmanship by SECO Heating, Air Conditioner and Refrigeration in Rocklin, CA, hired by Home Depot to do the installation.
Home Depot hires very poor installers that do not have the knowledge or know-how to do a good job. We asked Home Depot to help, but they do not help. The consumer is on his or her own in dealing with incompetent installers.
No building permit was taken out for the install, even though Home Depot requires it from its installers. SECO was forced to get a permit a year after the install. The permit is dated 08/04.
Along with the system, we purchased a 10 year parts and labor warranty on 8/10/07. The warranty was not issued until 11/09/08 due to SECO not taking care of it. The warranty lists a serial number for a coil that does not match the coil in the unit. Home Depot will not help us with this problem.
On 06/15/09 the system shorted out and ruined our refrigerator and microwave. We learned that SECO wired the A/C into a breaker that also carried the fridge and microwave. It is required that A/C have its own dedicated line. SECO did provide the correct wiring in 06/08. Home Depot refused to compensate us for the loss of our appliances. We tried to sue but do not have the up-front money to take on a company like Home Depot.
It is difficult for hard working people like us to get help. Once Home Depot gets your money, you are on your own. When you call them they talk nice, but there is no satisfaction in their actions.
