I, like several others want to warn people out there of Omega office supplies. They misrepresent themselves by saying that they are your normal vender and try to rip you off.
Not only are these people rude, but they are persistant, and might I add not too bright. They have called me several times at work and would give my co workers a hard time if they couldn't talk to me right away.
They will not go into voice mail and they will not let you call them back. They also are very unprofessional on the phone. I must have had five different people call me from this company.
The funny thing was that each time I would talk to someone they knew the were not the first person to get a hold of me. They all were from the same "company" but each time the name of that company was different.
The first time that they called me they lied and said that they were our normal vendor to let us know that the price of our toner was going up. Then another time they called and said that they were discovery office supplies.
When they sent us our bill for one box of toner that I did not order. The company on the invoice was Independant Distribution Center". Did I also add that the bill for one box of toner was 511.82 with a shipping charge of 63.00?
I proceeded to call this company and the person that I was talking too had no idea what to say to me. She said that I should have gotten four boxes of toner and asked me if I want the rest of the toner or just the one box. The one box she said was going to cost our company 112.00.
After hearing this, I immediately went to my supervisor. She told me not to send our bill to accounting and she was going to look into our contract with our vendor.
In reviewing our contract she found that the toner is part of our lease and we do not have to pay for it and our vendor had never even heard of Omega office supplies. Upon hearing this my supervisor immediately called the number on the invoice.
When she called the number, the person who answered the phone did not indicate that this number was even for Omega office supplies. My supervisor was transffered and informed the person on the other end that she knew they were scamming us and we would not by paying for the toner that they sent us. The person immediately hung up on her.
Hindsight is 20/20 and had I not been so busy every time they called I probably would have been able to think much clearer. We would get calls saying that they were our vendor and asking us what the model number was for our photocopier. Now that I look back it was them, so they would know what type of toner to send us.
One of the last people to call me from this "company" was like his other colleauges and not a good scammer. When I told him that they sent us a bill for over five hundred dollars and we were reviewing our contract, he immediately froze. He didn't know what to say. When I told him that he would have to talk to my supervisor, he said no and then hung up.
Please know that your vendor should never call you and try to get you to order anything. A legitimate vendor will send you an order only when you call them and tell them what you need.
Please be advised that a vendor should not be pushy and rude. If they are telling you that they are calling again, because the first conversation you had was not recorded hang up. What they are trying to do is get you give in to their pressure and constant hassling and finally order something.
I didn't order or sign anything, but they still sent me toner. What did we get out of this experience? Praise for saving the company money and stopping them from being a victim of fraud. Oh yeah, and a free box of toner. We are not paying the bill and definately not paying for the shipping charges to send perfectly good toner to what is most likely a post office box.
