Got an Emerald Advance with H&R Block 12/08.
Went and got taxes done in 2/09 at H&R Block. Preparer suggests the paperwork to fill out for HSBC Bank to not only pay off Emerald Advance, but to get remaining tax dollars direct deposited into personal bank account.
After one month and still no tax return in bank account, called preparer at H&R Block. She gave me # for HSBC Bank... Called HSBC Bank... Automated system tells me they could not process due to lack of information... After many calls, going on hold in a que and them disconnecting on me after holding for over 20 minutes (this happens many times) was able to get a rep who tells me they sent my tax money back to the IRS.
Fine, so I call the IRS who doesn't get this money back to them for over 2 weeks. When I called HSBC Bank... Go thru their que again and again and again, (they actually put you in a que for 20 minutes and THEN have an automated voice come on and tell you they are too busy and to call back later and then disconnect you!) they tell me "sorry don't know where the money is... Can't help"
Finally get the tax money to my bank account... Send the payoff to the Emerald Advance on 3/13-they are paid off completely... Get a bill today for a finance charge put on the account on 3/23.10 days AFTER I pay this off!
Right now as I write this, I am still on hold to speak with a manager regarding my Emerald Advance Card-I have been on hold almost an hour. The first person I spoke with couldn't help me at all and I was disconnected automatically after over a 20 minute hold listening to the same awful music and this second person has put me on hold for a manager 20 minutes ago. You think they will ever come back to the phone??? I don't
My point is, no one has been helpful in resolving any issues or concerns I have with their service. They make it very difficult to speak to a live person and they are chargin for a paid off service... Very disappointing. I suggest people steer clear of H&R Block and their "convienient" services they claim to provide.
