Almost Homeless Thanks to Kerri

The Property Source in Greensboro, NC is a property management firm and a realty company. They were listing a property as a lease that I was interested in for my 76 year old mother. We viewed the property, and began communicating with the owner/broker, Kerri Ledbetter regarding repairs to the property, negotiating a lease amount, etc. I was in constant contact with this woman, and made our intent to lease the property well known. I filled out an application and faxed to their office last week. We viewed the property again on Saturday, after which I emailed Kerri to confirm that we wanted the property and to make additional inquiries, including our offer to pre-pay rent in 6 month increments in exchange for a $50 reduction in the asking price. I am waiting for an email from her with instructions on getting the lease signed, deposits paid, etc., as it was made clear to her that we needed to move my mother March 1.

I receive an email from her today stating, thanks for you interest, but we've already rented the property.

As she explained it, someone came into their office today, filled out an application and paid their deposit. This woman is unprofessional and has no integrity! It didn't occue to her, after exchanging 10 to 15 emails with me, that maybe she should call or email me to say, "someone else is interested in the property and if you want it I need money today.???

She never mentioned any urgency with respect to paying the deposit, as there is a great deal of work to be completed before someone can move in.

If I owned the property she's getting paid to lease for me, I'd be outraged at her lack of business accumen.

Thanks to Kerri Ledbetter and the folks at The Property Source, we now have 2 weeks to find a suitable home for my mother. I am outraged and cannot help but wonder if my mother's age played a role. We met several of the people in the subdivision, most of whom are younger with children.

If you have your property listed with these people, be careful you don't find yourself in the middle of a lawsuit!!!
