Refusal to honor contract / overcharging

I entered into contractw / Verizon on July 10 with a bundle service for phone, internet, and Direct TV for a special of $89/mo. There was a four month special that included the movie channels and NFL for this price. After four months the price would increase to $126 if I kept all the services. I told the assistor, Brandi West, that I didn't like football so not to include it. I was told it was part of the special. My first bill was $175.

Direct TV said the only reason they would cancel the NFL was becasue it was pre-season. I called month after month to Verizon, who would refer to Direct TV. Direct TV finally explained that they offer specials and those specials are set. Verizon can offer any special that they want, but the decrease price was a discount offered by Verizon, not Direct TV.

I was told that the contract I enterd into didn't exist and I would have to choose some other some other package and pay the increase price. I went back and forth for months between the two companies and finally cancelled both services in September. Direct TV charge my debit card a $280 cancellation fee and another $100 for amounts never sent to them by Verizon. Verizon just sent me another bill for $124 for something.

I haven't had service with them for two months. I requested a transcript of my account notes. I was told that it was proprietary information. When you can a phone company for service, they can basically sign whatever contract they want on your behalf and send you to collections if you don't pay. I am trying to avoid collections. This is a real consumer protection issue.
