I was approached by Universal gas salesmen to sign on to thier program to supply gas to my two commercial buildings. I asked if I could switch at anytime, without any penalties. I would never enter into an arrangement I could not get out of, at anytime without penalty. Who am I to choose a gas supplier? How should I, or any other consumer keep informed as to the best supplier of gas? Is there a gas price comparison report? No, the system is set up to take advantage of the public.
They lied to me and told me there was no penalty to change at anytime. They told me gas prices had been approved to go up to a really high cost, and this program would save me so much money. B.S.
Two years ago I got an offer to switch to IGS, at a much lower rate. The switch for some reason didn't go through, I just dealt with it because winter was nearly over anyway.
This last winter I tried again when I got another great rate offer from IGS. This time one of the two accounts changed, I printed both bills on one piece of paper front and back. As I studied them I noticed, botha accounts had equal gas usage, but the Universal supplied account had a charge about $100 more than the IGS account.
I was furious, I made the change despit being told there was a penalty to do so. I complained to the state consuer commission. They had someone contact me from Universal HQ in Canada, who candidly admited they had been having reports of lying salesmen screwing their customers.
When I recieved letters saying I owed a penalty of $1089.21, I called them and bitched them out, and promised if they pursue me for this bill I would sue them. I thought that would have done it, now I have a collection letter. I'm mad as hell and I wast to sue them! I won't pay it, and my credit is bad enough, I don't want this B.S. On it. Help, anyone?
