We originally bought a Maytag Neptune, which is a very expensive stackable full size washer/dryer. It was broken more often than not. Each time they came out to fix it, I was without a washer for 2-3 weeks. That went on for a couple years.
We finally got rid of both the washer and dryer because the dryer doesn't work without that specific washer.
About a year ago we bought a Kenmore full size stackable washer/dryer and purchased the extended warranty. The cost for the appliances, installation, and warranty was about $3,000. I had a Kenmore when I was first married and loved
Earlier this month, the washer started making horrible noises. We called Sears and they scheduled a technician to come out a few days later with an arrival time of between 8AM 5PM. I took the day off and waited. Someone came, looked at the washer, didn't run it or open it up and diagnosed it as having a broken basket. He was here about 5 minutes but clearly didn't want to be here at all. He ordered a new basket and rescheduled a service appointment for today 8/15 sometime between 8AM-5PM. So between the family members, we each took part of the day off of work to be here for the washer repairman. I called to try to narrow down the time no luck. I called at 3:30 to make sure the guy didn't forget us and the person I spoke to said we are still in the queue.
At 4:07 PM I received a call from Sears telling me that no one will be out today because it's a 2 person job and they don't have a second person. I'm not sure why they didn't know that at 8:00 this morning. It's now 4:26 and I've been on hold for customer service since the initial 4:07 call. The recorded message keeps apologizing for any inconvenience.
