I told DirecTV in February that I was cancelling service in March. I got FIOS in the end of March. I paid them $110.00 for bill since they charged me for fees that they shouldn't have billed me for and instead of giving me a credit on one bill as I asked for they insisted on this method. I had never had a contract with them, oral or written.

In late April, I started getting harassing collectoin calls - everyday I ended up arguing with them and telling them I have no more DTV. On May 8 and 15th I send emails to them complaining about the harassment and confirming again that I have no DTV. On May 8th I told them I spoke to Craig and Desiree and that I again told them I don't want the service. Whenever they sent me email I responded — no more DTV. The last week of June I got email from them saying my DTV was cancelled for lack of payment. I have had no DTV so there was nothing to disconnect. They have now sent me to a collection agency. They still claim that since they have no notes I didn't notify them. When I mention the emails they ignore me.

I sent emails since when I had DTV they never took notes and I wanted to make sure there was paper documentation. I spoke to Aaron in corporate today and he basically tells me that their bills and correct and I just claimed to cancel my service since I'm in collections and my service is disconnected and I'm making excuses. I told him that I believe they are very aware that I had no service and are trying to force me to pay a cancellation fee. If I had no emails that would be different, and I documented some of the people I talked to.

On May 8th, why not turn my service off - I wouldn't be sent out to a collection agency. On May 15th, why not turn my service off? They claim they have no record of me calling and April at all. I said why would I call DTV when I cancelled my service in February? It is such a hassle since they're very rude and they make too many mistakes that are never corrected. When they were calling me everyday in April, harassing me my son, James and my daughter, JaNee, also told them again that we want no more DTV. I was on the phone every day arguing with these people and they claim to have no record. They called me and I called them back many times asking for a supervisor, but I was refused and I sent many emails, which they ignored.

I did everything I could to cancel service and DTV is tryilng to penalize me by saying that I have to pay because their people failed to take notes, which I don't believe for a minute. I sent them copies of the original emails from May 8th and 15th and I sent copies to Verizon. They lied by saying they cut my service off in late June, since FIOS was connected in late March this was a blatant lie.

Today, I was told that my service was disconnected on May 13th because of my failaure to pay; the first time I told them to cancel. I am seeking a job and the fact that people check your credit now worries me. They even emailed me that they were going to send me to a collection agency after they turned my service off.

They ignore my emails and refuse to consider them. I never trusted DTV and this is the only reason I sent emails. They're trying to say that I lied about cancelling my service after it was cut off, but didn't think I still had these emails. They claim that I never mentioned it and I'm only claiming I told them I want no more DTV. I told them that as soon as they refused to give me the total they overcharged me. Under Primestar they were not to charge for a late fee and they did start charging me, despite my requests to notify me in writing of any changes beforehand, since they made so many mistakes, putting movie channels on w/o permission, wrong bills, and when you called you were left on hold (computer disconnects you) or had to deal with someone who didn't speak English well and they would refuse to let you speak to a supervisor.

I feel that DTV should be investigated. I am glad that I have the emails since they have no problem lying to me and on me and these emails were not given to the collection agency.

In late June, I again sent them the emails, and don't want to call DTV and was hoping and praying never to have to call them again since I was very glad to be out of this mess. You would have to put your phone number into the computer sometimes twice, get disconnected, and have to call back & go through it again; I tried to call many times without giving them my number since I no longer have an account, but they only say I'm in collections, very condescending and rudely, as if they disrespect me, but I disrespect them and have no respect for them or their employees and lack trust. I hung up on that guy today to keep from yelling since they just feel as if you're stupid and have no legal rights.

I feel as if this is fraud. I don't work for DTV so to be so mistreated and lied on is hard. I was laid off and just want to spend time focusing on finding a job and this makes things worse for me. (Sorry for the jumbled message but was rushing).

In late June, I sent them emails from May about harassing calls they were making in April and that I have no more DTV, they didn't respond in May. I sent them another one a week later, then no more since I was hoping they finally fixed their notes. No response until last week in June cutting my service off for non-payment — but what did they cut off since I have no DTV and I still have cable? I spoke to many people, one Ramona, Jennifer (supervisor), and to this day they still have not cut my service off or made notes... Why did they lie and how long will they continue to try to cover up for all of these mistakes. They now claim the $5.00 was some promotion, not money owed back to me. That is not true since they owed me $45.00. If they had credited it back on one bill as I requested and demanded, the bill would have been lower. They still owe me the balance.
