My family and I hired Sky Moving and Storage to move our things out of storage from Charlottesville, Virginia to Orlando, Florida.
They had told us they were going to be at the unit at 11am. I got a phone call at 8:55 pm from the driver of the truck. He wanted to let me know that he was sorry he was late and he'd be at the unit at 9:10 pm. I met him there since I was just around the corner at 9 pm.
Before they loaded the truck they looked inside of the unit and said oh it's going to be more than the quoote that was given over the phone by a rep of the company. We let them know that all we had was the money that was agreed on having over the phone with the rep for the truck reservation and the spot on the truck. At first they said that it was fine. After the put ONLY the boxes all 35 of them on the truck they said that it was the amount agreed on and that the rest either had to stay in storage or they could bring it to Orlando for us if we paid them the full amount upfront.
When we told them to take everything off of the truck and put it all back in the unit the driver of the truck called his dispatcher and had the dispatcher yelling at my mother-in-law and my husband. First that's not very good customer service at all. The dispatcher told the driver of the truck that he didn't have to do anything but take our stuff off of the truck and that my husband and I would have to put it all back in the unit ourselves. They had taken everything out of the unit and left it on the ground uncovered. At about 2 am they decieded to help us put everything back in the unit after we had gotten half of it back in.
When the help we had called to come and help us got there everything had been put back in the unit and the driver of the truck left the lights on on the truck the whole time we were there from 9pm-about 3am. They asked if we could give the truck a jump with a little Jeep we told them that it wouldn't work and that they would need to call their roadside assistance for that but they said that they didn't have one. What kind of trucking company doesn't have a roadside assistance plan? To me that didn't make any sence. But they're a horrible company to hire to help anyone.
