Rude employees

Last week i took my 11 year old brother to petco to buy him a hamster. He already had one and really wanted another. So we go into petco, look for an employee for 15 mins and get the hamster. Once we got to the register the manager walks up and places all kinds of hamster "extras" on the counter and the cashier starts ringing them up. I immediatly asked him what he rung up all the "extras" for since i didnt place the items on the counter. He said "well whenever anyone buys an animal, we have to suggest a few other items to sell with it." now i understand the whole suggestive selling thing, ive worked in retail, but ive never had anyone do that. I told him i didnt want nor need anything but the hamster and he turned and yelled for a manager to void it. She came over with an attitude and asks what the problem is. The cashier says nothing. He just looks at me. So i tell her that he rang me up for items i didnt need or want and that i just wanted to buy the hamster. She starts talking about how i have to buy the items in order to buy the hamster because they were necessary items. I told her i didnt need extra hay, food and toys because i already have them at home. She turned her back to me as i was talking and started voiding the items. They ring up my amster and i leave.

Three days later my little brother called and tells me the new hamster is dead. So i call petco, tell them what happened and the empolyee says "well just bring the hamster and your reciept and we can replace it". No problem right? Until i get there. I talk to the same employee i talked to on the phone, she gets the manager to ok the transaction. As soon as the manager walks up she says, i cant replace that hamster. If you want your money back or a replacemant you need to take it to a vet and have them determine the cause of death. The employee walks away (which i dont mind because its not her job to defend her boss or me, besides im pretty sure she had other things to do) and i tell the manager "this is an $8 hamster. Why in the hell would i take a dead hamster to a vet just to determine the cause of death on an $8 hamster?" she then says thats their policy and she cant replace it. So i check my reciept again because i know for a fact that it says i have a week gaurentee on live animals. She then says the policy is new and she wont give me another hamster or my $8. I ask her if she can get me another hamster out the cage and i'll pay for it. I mean is only $8 so i can just get him another one. She gets upset and asks me to leave the store and wouldnt sell me the hamster. I even tried going to another petco to explain the situation and she had already called to "warn" them not to sell me a hamster. Talk about great service.
