I was a customer of sprint pcs for seven years.in December I recieved a bill from Sprint charging me over one hundred dollars for a ring tone download that was billed for a third party.in addition to the ring tone charge, I was also billed for "media services" from this same third party for games, internet and other services I did not use. I did not download the ring tone from the internet, but used my Sprint phone to download the ring tone, just like I had done in the past for $3.99. I attempted to dispute this charge with Sprint, but they did not listen, and told me I would have to pay it, but they would ensure that it did not happen. While attempting to fix this propblem, I was repeatedly placed on hold, changed operaters four times, and was disconnected twice.

I paid the fee, but the next month I was billed again for the same thing. I attempted to fix the problem but I could not get through. I then attempted to cancell my service, but was told by a recording that I could not do anything due to a computer overhaul, and that I would have to wait two weeks until the new system was in place. When I finally was able to get in touch with someone three weeks later, I was told that I would be charged $600.00 in cancellation fees ($200 per line) this was one month before my contract was over. During this battle about the cancellation fees, I was transfered six times, disconnected three times, before I finally was able to speak with someone in the cancellation department. I was told by the cancellation department that if I would keep my service with sprint they would waive all past fees, and give me unlimited calling for the remainder of my contract for half the price I was currently being charged. When I told them I had already switched to a new provider, they stated that I owed the six hundred dollar cancellation fee. I told them that I would be taking leagal action and have not paid the bill.

I have filed a complaint with the FCC, and also have read about the federal goverment wanting to regulate the excessive cancellation fees that are charged by cell phone companies. I am intrested in joining any class action lawsuits.
