Ripoff on installation, service and cancellation

Oh where to start with this company. March we bought an HD tv so decided to upgrade to digital cable to be able to access the HD channels. We had previously had only basic tv service and internet.

Installation rep came out (found out later he is a contractor not a Comcast employee).installation went smoothly.

Next morning none of the HD nor digital channels worked. Called Comcast, they sent someone out like 3-4 days later. He says the original installation contractor is a moron and installed it wrong. So he fixes it. It worked righht for maybe 3-5 days this time. On Demand didn't work at all and the internet would just quit randomly when it felt like it. We had never had a problem with the internet til this installation was done.

Another service call. Again this guy says the previous guy made errors. He runs another box to the side of my house, even further from the pole (signal degrades the longer it runs). He said someone would come out to bury the cable. 2 months go by with cable running through my yard, I called and they came out and buried it.

Again no on demand, internet spotty. Again another service call and again he says the previous guy did it wrong. So 1 installer and 3 service techs, none have fixed it right, and they all blame the previous guy.

So we quit their service and got a competitor's. There was some overlap so I figured that i would be paying for 3-5 days of extra service. Comcast sent me a bill for 18 days. They claimed it took 18 days to cutoff my service. Now, I am sure if I wanted to get new service, they would've been out there in shorter then 18 days. I got this resolved with a letter to the CEO.

During the installation, the competitor's installer, who had worked for Comcast for 8 years, said Comcast had made a complete and utter mess of the wiring under and around my house as he had never seen before. The competitor's service has been in for 4 months now and not one service issue. At least their competitors can hire competant employees.
