We are so happy the monopoly has been busted. We've had Charter for 9 years now, and have finally been able to sign up with their competitor, AT&T Uverse (who is new to our area) during the last month. As bad as AT&T's reputation seems to be, their reception & quality so far with their new fiber optic cables has been stellar.
Throughout the duration of our service, we had poor reception that produced a grainy picture on an HD tv. We had numerous techs come out to "fix" the problem (putting boosters and filters on...) to no avail & had several boxes switched out over the years.in each case, since the quality of our reception wasn't fixed, Charter would repeatedly throw in a promotional service to help appease us, which (since we were unsatisfied with satellite also). Yes, we put up with Charter for a while, especially since we thought we had no choice.
We also kept calling customer service on the following list of additional complaints. Video on demand would fail to load or the box would repeatedly reset itself, customer disservice keeps telling us the "lines are down in the area", we had to reset the server cable box a MIN of 3 times a day. Calling them meant i had to be on the line for about a half hour and they would reset it from their end stating they found the problem and it shouldnt be an issue anymore, 45 minutes later guess what. Again the images would fail to load, i would get the service disconnect screen the refresh button had nothing to refresh with
We paid $49.99 a month for this horrible "high speed" internet service that in the last year kept shutting down on us constantly. We were also unable to use our wireless router at all. Customer service was absolutely worthless in trying to fix these problems. And so we cancelled our service tonight and returning the box to Charter tomorrow. We were hoping to make this our public notice. 1-8 save yourself the grief - stay clear of charter communications.
