I purchase a lot of merchandise on the interned from a variety of stores. I must say Broadway Photo was the worst. From reading all of the complaints on this web site it seems that they are all consistent with the practices of Broadway Photo and the experience I had with them.
My wife searched the internet and found Broadway photo to be a good price, with free shipping for a Cannon G9 Camera... She called to place the order on the telephone and spoke with a salesman who she thought was very nice and helpful. He told her the price of the camera was $407.00 with no shipping. She ordered the camera and the salesman talked her into a 'KIT', which included a 1 GB High Speed SD card, A high capacity battery and, of course, a carrying case. They even told her that the Cannons Batteries are not very good and only last 18 minutes and that is why we need one of there high capacity batteries. He also assured her that if I was not satisfied with it I could simply send everything back for a refund. When it arrived and I examined it, I found that the accessories that she was charged an additional $292.00 for were in fact worth approximately $35.00. The SD card listed on the invoice was for a high speed card, when in fact they sent a regular card. I called immediately on the day after Christmas to get a return number to send everything back and spoke with the customer service representative, (Brian), who told me he would give me an additional $700.00 worth of warranties, memory cards and batteries to keep me happy and when I refused and just wanted a refund he told me there was a 15% restocking fee and until I agreed he would not issue a return number. He kept telling me this was there Christmas special. Well, Merry Christmas. I stopped payment on my credit card and mailed everything back. “Brian�? Even told me they would just refuse the return package and I would get it back. The people at this store are the worst and most deceiving I have ever dealt with. Merry Christmas Broadway photo.
I am also reporting them to the New York Attorney Generals Office, Bureau of Consumer Protection for there business practices. You can do this on the internet at the New York Attorney Generals web site. I suggest if you had a problem with Broadway Photo to do this.
