I went to my local BEST BUY store to buy an inexpensive small TV set advertised on sale for the After Thanksgiving special sales. The sales clerk instructed me that I could earn points and save money if I signed up for a "REWARDZONE MASTERCARD". I was told that there would be no fees involved and I would save on my first purchase.
Three weeks later, I receive my bill for purchases made and find that I am charged a "non refundable" $59.00 annual fee. When I called to complain about this undisclosed fee, I was told that I had agreed to this at the time I accepted the disclosure terms of the credit card. However, I read the disclosure carefully and there was no mention of a $59.00 annual fee. I wanted to cancel this card and get credit back for the $59.00 that I never agreed to pay, and I was told by the Customer Service Representative that the fee was not refundable even if I paid the bill in full and cancelled the account.
The annual fee added to the customary interest charges would make my annual interest rate equal to 32 percent per year, which was not disclosed at all upon acceptance of the card.
