I seem to have had more luck with Orchard Bank than most people. However, I always use their web site to make payments and I usually make a couple of payments a month and pay my balance off every month. I have had the card for 1 1/2 years now. I received a letter last week telling me that I will be charged an annual fee (even though it isn't really annual) and my interest rate will be increased. They told me that the only way to avoid the fee and increase is to pay my account off and notify them in writing within 30 days that I wish to cancel the account. I have attempted to contact them numerous times to ask what the fee and the interest increase is, but I have to dial a long distance number only to end up listening to a recorded foreign voice telling me that they are experiencing technical problems and then disconnecting me. I don't think this is any way to treat a customer who has never made a late payment and pays their account off nearly every month. After reading the terrible reports here, I believe that I will cancel this card. I don't really want to do that, since cancelling a credit card usually has a negative impact on credit scores, but I'm afraid that my long distance charges to Orchard Bank are going to exceed my "annual fee, " since I keep getting disconnected.
