I recieved an offer from First Premier Bank today for a Gold Mastercard. This isn't the first one I've recieved. I do have a discharged bankruptcy (1 year) on my credit report, but I would never be desperate enough to actually apply for this card. A $250 limit with $178 initial "charges"? And two of those charges are recurring annual fees! What is the interest rate for if not the price to extend you credit? Sure it's low (9.9%), but does it make up for annual fees you're paying?
And if you are late ONCE, the interest goes up to 23.9%. They must be crazy! I have recieved two credit cards since my bankruptcy, one through my credit union, no fees, interest is 12%, and another through another credit institution which is $69 annually with 19% interest.
There are ways to rebuild your credit, but this is definitely not one of them! Please make sure you read the fine print and actually think about you are about to do when you apply for this card!
