Mediacom
Billed me after I deployed and was ensured my account was closed and settled and threatened my credit if I did not pay!

I was recently deployed to Iraq. Before I left for deployment I settled all debt so that none were open while I would be gone for 15 months.

I went to the Mediacom Office located in Oak Grove, Kentucky and spoke with the young lady at the counter. I can get her name at a later date because I wrote it down. I explained that I was military and being deployed and I needed to close my account and settle any bills that I have with them.

I told her the date that the cable would need to be turned off and she determined what my bill was and I paid it in full. She also informed me that the cable guys were behind on schedule and not to worry if the cable was still on after the turn off date.

I called home for a moral call to my parents who has power of attorney to dispute any claims on my behalf, and discovered that Mediacom has again billed me for $17.63.

My mother informed Ms. Jackie out of Benton, Kentucky, a mediacom employee, that she had confirmed with me that I had in fact paid in full all of my debts.

My parents also requested a printed bill so that they can close out my said debt so that it would not affect my credit.

Later my parents recieved a nasty gram threatening to send my debt to the creditors. They could not locate my parents address to send them the said bill but they were able to locate the address to send a nasty gram.

I am in Iraq and I AM positive that I paid in full my bill. When I finally get back to the states in JAN I will locate the receipts that I kept and I have a witness that was with me when I paid and closed out all bills owed to Mediacom.

My parents paid on my behalf the said debt of $17.63 with my money to avoid any bad credit reports.

If I am not misstaken I am sure that I am not to be bugged by creditors while I am away at war unless it is a known debt. I was faced with the possibility of a nightmare apon my return to the states where I am supposed to be somewhat stress free. I am serving my country and they are ripping Soldiers off. I am sure that all Soldiers aren't guilt free but I am a loyal citizen who pays all my bills on time and pretty much always does the right thing to be faced with something as PETTY as a measley $17.63 that could have potentially hurt me in the long run if I tried to fight it.

I am no genius but the measley $17.63 adds up if it is happening to more Soldiers that are in the same situation as I found myself. I am angry because I am at WAR without bank records and reciepts. Someone elses misstake is now my burden.

I presented my ORDERS that directed me to a 15 month tour to IRAQ. It is annotated that I was military and the reason for the termination was because of my deployment. I am angrier that they gave my mother even a harder time to try and dispute it knowing she has a POWER OF ATTORNEY!

I will be going to the MEDIACOM Office apon my return with the old reciepts that I have saved to confirm that I indeed paid my debts prior to my deployment. I will not forget what they have done and I want them to apologize for the inconvienence I find myself in and give me my money back that THEY OWE ME!

In addition to the claim I have rented my home to a couple the day that I departed the premises. The cable was still turned on to no fault of MY OWN! They need to hire more personnel or work longer hours if they think they can charge me for their incompetence. I paid for my service and I am forced to return to only give my money to MEDIACOM who is the ONLY SERVICE available in OAK GROVE, Kentucky.

I am stuck in Iraq and I can not fight fairly to keep my hard earned money and reputation!

Thank you!
