Ripped me off for 128 dollars and some change Illinois

I got my service with Vonage around September 15. First off I was told they could get me a local number and charge me 24.99 a month for the service I was wanting. I said ok sounds good I was paying 50 dollars or so at another phone company. This company sent me a box I hooked up all the wires. I noticed it was a Paducah number and called my parents which lived a couple blocks away. My parents tried to call me back and they would have to dial long distance in order to get a hold of me. I told them I did NOT want that and it was silly for someone to call me long distance that lived two blocks away.

The guy that I spoke to which was one that could disconnect my service told me look in two months we will have local numbers in your area and we could switch you over at no cost since. I said ok so I guess I will cancel now and call you back in two months. He said well your getting this this and this free what if I give you a toll free number to use till we get you a local number. I said how does that work? He said I would get 100 minutes a month and that if someone called me using that number to just hang up and call right back. I said well that sounds like a bunch of bull. He ended up saying he would give me credit to my account of X amount of dollars to keep service with them for two months. During the two months of service if I got on the internet the phone was worse than a cell phone ever thought of being. So I couldn't get on the phone at all hardly because I would be cutting out. Now when I called them several times I was on hold for at least 2 hours and up to 6 and a half hours waiting to talk to someone.

Now when I called Vonage on like December 7 or so I told them look can you get me a local number I was told by a guy back around beginning of October that I wouldn't be charged if you guys can't get me a local number. The lady I talked to said no we can't get you a local number and don't know why they would have said that. I told the lady then I didn't want the service any longer and that she could give me this this and this free if I kept the service. I then told her I thought the service sucked and I had gotten better service else where and that I still wanted to cancel. She then tells me there going to charge me 128 dollars and some change to cancel because you only had 60 days to send the box back. I said look the guy I talked to back in October stated there would be no charge if you can't get me a local number. I then argued with the lady for 5 minutes or so with it because the guy I had spoken to said he would make sure to put a note on my account stating this. I told the lady you can have the box back I have it packaged and ready to go. She still refused to take the box back.

I feel this company needs to be put in there place there service really stinks, they will lie to keep you and charge you more and more as time progresses. Depending on whom you speak with there they have there schemes in place and if you argue with them enough you will catch them slip. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone.
