In 2001 my wife won an alarm system from Home Depot in Philadelphia. She won the equipment, All we had to do was sign a three year contract with Tri state alarm company.
Well the system worked fine. We had no problems. Three years came and gone and we continued to have monitoring and we continued to pay for it. They automaticly took the money out of our savings account every month.
In June of 4 years after I had the system, I called Tri state alarm Company telling them that I was moving To Central Pennsylvania and that I no longer needed the system. The company informed me that the origanal contract that I signed for 3 years automaticly renewed its self because I did not inform them in writting 3 months before the contract ran out.
So the company came out to my home in Philadelphia and took my equipment, that was supposed to be mine and they left holes in the walls two days before I sold it, and they told me that they did not know if they even serviced were I am moving to.
After a year and a half of continuing to pay for monitoring that I did not have, I put a stop from them taking money out of my account.
On 11/27/07 I got a phone call from a Mr. Scott Pugsley claiming to be a Lawyer from Anderson Crenshaw and Assoc. He told me that if I did not pay $1600.00 He was going to put it on my credit report. I explained what had happened, and that I don't even have the equipment that was supposed to belong to me. He told mw that was the first he had ever heard of that. I told Mr. Pugsley that I wanted to do my own research on this. And he insisted that I pay so that it does not effect my credit.
On 11/28/07 I got a phone call again from Mr. Pugsly telling that if I do not pay right now that it was going to be reported to the collection agency with in minutes. Well I told him that he did not even give me 24 hours to do my own investagation.in a nut shell Mr. Pugsly told me tuff, and that I had enough time. Well I got a little angry with Mr. Pugsly and I told him were he could go. And I wasn't nice about it, I was upset.
After talking to a friend of mine about my issue with Tri state alarm company He told me that he could not even find them. So I called Mr. Pugsley back and asked what was the name of the company that is trying to collect a debt with me. He told Security Networks. Now I have never even heard of them. Then I asked Mr. Pugsly if I could have a copy of the contract that I signed. He told me NO, go get your own copy. I told him that it was back in 2001 and that I don't have it any more, He told me that thats my problem. Then I asked if I could have my equipment back that belongs to me. He said NO, Then I asked if I could just have the alarm sytem installed for the year and half that I already paid for. Thats when he hung up.
After reading some Rip off reports I called back this time Mr. Pugsly would not even get on the phone with me. I spoke with a Mr. Brown. I informed him that I was 1 recording the conversation and 2 that I was informing him that I was disputting the collection and that if it shows up on my credit report with out showing that I was disputing it, That I was going to sue him and his company for violating the fair credit reporting act.
I also found out that Mr. Pugsly is not a lawyer, like he told me on 11/27. This whole thing is shady. I hope that Home Depot steps in here and tells this company to knock it off. After all it was an alarm system That I won in thier store in 2001.
If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. I am a Volinteer Fire fighter and a Volinteer EMT. I help people every day. If by reporting this I can get a little help and give a little help well then good. Companies like this should not be aloud to do business.
