A couple weeks ago, a representitive from AmeriTrust contacted me and proceeded to tell me that I was approved for a $2000 credit limit to help build my credit. Since I knew my credit was not where it should be, I started the think that this might be a good idea.
I started asking the representive, Mary, some questions about their company. I asked if they were a scam company, she responded no and she would personally handle the case. I asked how much it would cost, she stated it would only be $200 right out of my bank account. Then I asked if I would be able to use the card anywhere, she said yes.
So the time came and they took the $200 plus an extra $44.50 that I was unaware of. A few days later the card came with some vouchers and a letter. I thought it was a little quick for the card to come in because Mary had told me that I would get my membership package with card included in about 30 days.
I read the letter and it said I could start using the card immediately on their website, www.ameritrustshops.com. I plugged in the website and it came up that no website exsists. I used a search engine to search for the site and the company, but nothing turned up but some mortgage company.
I called the customer care number and the sound was in and out. I finally got to talk to this lady who seemed quite rude and she just repeated the website address to me. She was really no help and didn't answer my question as to why the website was not found on the internet.
Then during a search, I came across this consumer complaints site. I read the guys report, matched the customer care number, the name of the company and the city and state and concluded I had been riped-off as well. AmeriTrust Financial is a fraud.
I don't know why this company is getting away with this, since there have been so many complaints of fraud and scam. I am intitled to my money back and the company needs to be shut down. If there is anyone who can help please contact me.
